Maxie is beyond adorable. He will need his humans to respect his space during his settling in period and give him time to feel safe. Once he feels secure in his new home, he will make it clear how much he love pats, couch cuddles, attention and playing.
Maxie can be a little territorial at home and bark at unusual sounds or delivery people, but training will help with the management of this behavior. Apart from that, he walks well on the lead and absolutely adores his daily walks. He will need a human who will commit to one or two walks every single day. Maxie is quite indifferent to other dogs.
Maxie is good at basic commands, although can be a little bit stubborn about whether he chooses to respond or not. He’s an independent young man who has an endearing character to counterbalance the occasional stubborn streak. An experienced dog person will be important for him to learn and develop the social skills and doggy manners to thrive. Maxie in particular has certain things he likes and doesn’t like and will let you know what these are but with your patience and tolerance he will wind his way into your heart.
Maxie is best suited to a home without cats or other small animals and no small children. He wants to be the centre of your world. We are looking to home Maxie with a household of least two adults.
Prepare to make room in your heart and on your couch for Maxie.

All dogs that come into the care of Victorian Dog Rescue are tested for heart worm.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer a six-week full refund, free assistance for six weeks for any issues, and a lifetime takeback policy with a fifty percent refund of the adoption fee, and of course an invitation to our adopters’ Christmas party.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.
