About Freddie
Freddie is affectionate, a love-magnet and total smooch. Freddie is a snuggle-snoot and when you arrive home, he’ll make sure to nuzzle his face into you. A sleek beautiful black beauty, Freddie is ready to take up residence on your couch!
We suspect that this sweet snoot was born a grandpa – he’s the king of snooze, a total homebody at heart, and has to be roused for a walk or toilet-time. Once he’s out and about, he enjoys a short walk and loves a quick sniffari. On a recent trip to the beach, Freddie showed us he’s a beach babe, he loved the bay and had so much fun splish-splashing in the waves! Day-to-day, you’ll find Freddie most content on the couch. He has a packed schedule of snoozing, roaching and lounging – it’s really quite exhausting. He’s even known to leave his rear-end parked on the couch and reach down for a sip of water from his bowl. He’s a clever, comical boy who will warm your heart.
When he’s not catching up on his beauty sleep, he’s playing with his toys, performing short-burst zoomies or sunning himself. Freddie would love a new home with a garden or backyard!
Freddie has worked hard to become the perfect house guest – he’s toilet trained but would prefer indoor/outdoor access. Freddie is still building his confidence and learning nice leash manners, so you’ll need to be a confident cheerleader in singing his praise.
Freddie would do well as a solo dog, he could also live happily with a greyhound companion – as long his canine companion also enjoys the couch life – that’s Freddy’s speed!
Whilst not food motivated, he will try at least once to charm you into giving him food – by batting his big almond eyes at you. He’s easily redirected and attentive when told no. Like many greyhounds, though he’s opportunistic so food should be safely secured in cupboards and your kitchen benches kept clean.
Whilst Freddie has met smaller dogs on his walks, he can at times feel uncomfortable. You’ll need to continue his training and positive socialisation.
Freddie is ready for his new couch life with you!

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
