About Rex
Rex is the most adorable big boy. Affectionately known as goofball, this handsome guy wears his heart on his sleeve.
Rex is smart and eager to please and thus easy to train. He is toilet trained and crate trained. He sits and lies down on command and is learning to shake paws and ‘kiss’.
He is very affectionate and loves pats and even likes to sit in your lap for cuddles if you’ll let him. He likes spending time with everyone in the family but attaches to one person more. He looks to that person for reassurance and confidence at times.
Rex likes to go for walks and walks well on the lead, although he is no endurance athlete. He can be timid around new dogs and his foster mum is slowly exposing him to new situations to help him learn that his people will keep him safe. He becomes very unsure when he is out for walks and his new family will need to be in tune with his reactions to be able to reassure him that he is ok with what is happening around him. He is happy with a half hour walk morning and night and some play time in between. He will chew whatever he can find if he has too much energy and gets bored.
Considering he is quite timid and unsure, Rex will thrive in a home where he will have a (desexed) confident canine sister to learn from and help guide him through situations he is unsure of. He is going to be a large dog so a medium to large dog will be the best match for him. He is very strong and playful so will become annoying to a senior dog.
**Homes without another dog will not be considered for Rex due to the above reasons**
With Rex and another dog, there will need to be a good sized yard where they can run and play. Apartments and courtyards will be too small for Rex to stretch his legs.
We have noticed that Rex feels more comfortable with females. He can be a little intimidated by men but with time and love, he warms to them and is comfortable in their presence. We believe that he will be happiest in a home where his new mum is his 'primary carer'.
He is enthusiastic about being with people. He is often clumsy and as he is still a pup, he doesn’t realize his strength or weight. He is working on not jumping up. Because he can accidentally be a bit rough and because he does weigh over 20kg he would probably be best in a home without small children or small dogs. He would however enjoy the company of a slightly older medium to large dog.
Rex has not been introduced to cats so a home with just a canine friend will be best for him.
Everyone who meets Rex adores him and he can’t wait to find his forever human.
Adoption details
If you think one of our animals would be a good match for your home please email us and we will be in touch shortly after. We all work fulltime, have families and other commitments so your patience is appreciated.
We do require any other dogs in your home meeting our foster animal before they head home with you. This enables us to assess their compatibility and helps prevent them being returned and creating more confusion/insecurities for the foster animal.
All our animals are available for a two week trial with full refund. They are also covered by a lifetime return policy. If you ever find yourself unable to care for or keep your pet please contact us and they will come back into our care, this is a condition of our Adoptions.
