About Wally
Wally is a very friendly and still active Tibetan Spaniel cross Shih Tzu. He turned 9 years old on 1st February 2021. It is very sad for Wally that he had to be surrendered to Midcoast Dog Rescue – his elderly owner is heartbroken that she can no longer manage to live in her own home with Wally, and made the decision to move into a care facility. Of course, Wally is not allowed in most of these establishments.
We would like to re-home Wally to a single retired lady, who resides in the Port Macquarie area, if possible. He is not a dog that can be left alone for long hours during the day; he loves human companionship and needs to be an integral member of the family unit. He is an indoors dog, and must have access to outside garden during the day. He needs only a small yard with solid, secure fencing and to be taken for a walk once or twice a day – twice preferably. He barks when visitors come to the home, just to alert his owner that he is looking out for her.
As with all new adoptions, Wally will need time to get used to his new home, new owner and new surroundings. MDR offers a 2 week settling-in period to ensure a smooth transition.
He gets on well with other dogs and isn’t bothered by cats either. He is used to being the only dog in the family, but could benefit from having another doggy friend in the home.
Wally has been to the groomer this week and is looking particularly handsome after his pampering. His coat will require clipping at least every 6-8 weeks to keep him looking his absolute best.
He is good health, with no existing health problems, is de-sexed, fully vaccinated, microchipped and ready to go!!! Please note: Kennel Cough and Heartworm due June 2021.
Wally is a delightful little fellow and has a very happy personality, but seems to prefer women to men, so if you are a mature woman seeking to adopt and want a loving companion, Wally may be the one you are looking for!
Applications to adopt our delightful little man Wally are now being accepted.
Adoption details
The first step is to email Midcoast Dog Rescue Inc. for assessment regarding prospective ownership and pet suitability.
Adoption Application forms must be completed.
A property inspection will be carried out on properties in the Port Macquarie area so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you’ve selected. Proof of home ownership will be required. If renting your home, a letter from the owner’s agent confirming that the pet is allowed will be required.
A 2 week trial period commences on the day of adoption. If, for any reason, the dog is returned to Midcoast Dog Rescue within the trial period, the total adoption fee paid will be refunded.
All Midcoast Dog Rescue animals come desexed, microchipped, vaccinated (up to date), vet checked ,wormed, flea and tick treated.
Midcoast Dog Rescue Inc. is trying to expand its foster carer network so that we can help more dogs in need. This is a very rewarding experience and suits a variety of people. Some people, for whatever reason, are unable to make a permanent commitment to a dog, a commitment which can last for up to 15 years. Others use the fostering experience as an interim measure before committing to permanently owning a dog. If you think you could be interested in becoming a foster carer, either on a long-term or a short-term basis, and would like more information please contact Nigel on 6584 4992 or Wendy on 6584 7027.
