Hi there. I’m Rose. I’m a 2-year-old border collie x kelpie girl.
I’m a busy, happy, affectionate and super loyal girl and I’m looking for my forever family. I’d best suit an active family that will include me in their everyday lives. A home where someone is home most of the time. I’d prefer a family with no children or kids over the age of 10-years. I need a calm, consistent and fair home that has experience with the border collie breed. One that understands our breed quirks and is willing to provide lifelong training & love. In return, I will be your loyal best friend.
I have strong herding instincts and will give chase to livestock and kangaroos. The only way I will go to a home on property with livestock is if the human is prepared to teach me the ropes or has a separate fenced area to keep both me and the livestock safe. I live with 3 cats and enjoy staring at them for a period. I have been working on being around them and am getting much better and will leave them when corrected. Foster mum would prefer I go to a cat free home.
I prefer confident dogs. I’m a bit picky with my dog friends therefore, I need a controlled and proper introduction. If I decide I like a dog, I’m all up for a good game of chase & bitey face. If I am to be an only dog, I must have the opportunity to have regular play dates and walks with my chosen canine friends.
Since coming into foster care I’ve started my basic training. I’m very food motivated & enjoy my training sessions. I’m a clever girl & learn quickly. I’ve learnt my name; I sit & wait for my food, drop & I’m walking well on lead. I'd make a fabulous sports dog...Agility or the like as I really love to use my brain.
I go on bush walks with my foster family and foster dog siblings. I like to run back and check in with foster mum regularly. A good loud whistle when I stray too far ahead will see me back at her side. I know I'll get a yummy treat when I do what's asked of me.
At mealtimes, I prefer to dine alone, so I take my meals in my crate. I don't guard my food from my humans. I currently sleep inside in my crate. I really, really LOVE my crate and will run straight into it. It's my safe place and keeps me grounded. I’m a good girl and sleep quietly through the night. I’m not a nuisance barker.
I’m searching for a family who understands the needs of working breeds. A home that can provide me with both physical & mental stimulation. If you think you can provide me with my perfect forever home my foster mum would love to hear from you.
Love & licks,
Rose ❤
