About Skye ~ 3mo Kelpie X Pup (On Trial 21/2/21)
Skye has a heart-melting smile and she is, quite simply, adorable. Skye is a Kelpie X Cattle Pup and at 13 weeks young she is an extremely quick learner, loves being taught new commands/tricks and food puzzles keep her well-entertained. She will need to continue to be engaged this way, to keep her stimulated and active.
Skye absolutely adores her humans, needs to be near them and loves to be involved. So she will be best suited to a home where someone will be nearby most of the time. She will escort you from the hallway entrance to the kitchen sink, assist you in placing anything in the dishwasher, and then escort you back to your seat. And be warned - the ground is her domain, so if a human sits on the floor, she will rush over and flop onto their lap and give them kisses until they scratch her head or belly! Equally, any casually discarded object on the floor she will also claim - be it shoe, sock, boardgame. She is super sweet, playful, and snuggly.
Little Miss Curious Skye is quite happy entertaining herself with fluffy toys and bouncy balls, and has taught herself soccer on the wooden floors of her foster home. She enjoys her sleeps, dreaming by day near your feet and by night in a crate. She is housetrained, though once in her new home this training may need to be reinforced. We have started leash training and she is becoming more comfortable being in a harness and on leash. More training will be required, but pulling on a lead has not presented as a problem to date.
Skye still gets a little overwhelmed by new settings / stimuli - cyclists, noisy streets, going into cafes or vets. So she will need a patient and supportive family to help her become more comfortable in new environments. Skye has spent short periods of time with several other adult dogs and seems very comfortable after some fleeting initial shyness. She also seems fine with kids but recommend households with 8yrs+ kids as she is still quite an excitable puppy and jumps up. Cats are untested.
Skye loves being inside and will need a home where she can access both outdoors and inside. She is not suited to apartment living. She has already proven to love jumping and climbing so a yard with sturdy high fences will be required. Skye is looking for an active home where she will get plenty of attention, exercise and stimulation - and in return you will receive adoration, snuggles, and love in abundance.
