Both dogs are highly bonded, they have been together since birth and will not be separated.
These two little terriers have had a history of digging out but with a thorough yard check and blocking off digging access points, these guys have lost the desire to find escape routes in their foster home. We think itās also something to do with the fact that life is sweet with couch cuddles, daily walks and lots of love so why would you want to leave!
Both dogs like to bark and chase the birds that land in the backyard, and if they see a cat or possum, itās game on! Definitely a home without a cat is going to suit this pair if you donāt want to upset the neighbours (or your cat!) with the racket! They do normal doggy things like bark when they hear unexpected loud noises around the home. Best to sneak out quietly if you leave otherwise, they will bark and even howl if they suspect you are going.
Best approach is to park your car in the street first, go back in and then when they arenāt looking, quietly leave. A quiet street is a must for these dogs otherwise traffic induced barking will constantly be a problem.
Whackyās house training is coming along. He initially wanted to mark new environments when he first came into care and will most likely be like this in the beginning in his new home. He needs someone who will be patient with him and have the time to watch and catch him in the act to help with this situation. It is recommended that his new owner only gives him access to a limited area of the house. His carer allowed him in the living room but not anywhere else and used a puppy pen and room divider to help this issue.
Whacky is a slightly more dominant dog to Townie and can if he doesnāt get his own way, be a little growly and nippy, although he never causes any injury. Like all dogs, it is a matter of learning who the pack leader is.
Townie and Whacky sleep in a crate in the evenings with no fuss and no accidents overnight. They will sleep all night and all day if you let them! In the morning they bark a little to let you know it is time for a toilet stop and then they just want to spend all day with you inside.
They have proven to be good with young kids, but wouldnāt make great playing companions for humans as they prefer the quieter life. Whacky will play chase with other friendly dogs and overall, their carer has found they interact well with dogs. As with all new dog introductions, they should be monitored and slow.
Both dogs naturally love a daily 20 min walk. Whacky can be excitable on lead if he sees other dogs but a firm āleaveā command will help keep him in check. A harness is a must for these two to prevent choking when any pulling occurs.
We would love to see this pair find a home located in a quiet area, an owner that is willing to dig-proof the yard, be attentive to health care, give them a daily walk and be allowed to snuggle on the couch.
Do you have what it takes to provide Townie and Whacky with their perfect home?

Medical notes
Both dogs have luxating patella's on both hind legs. This has not been causing them any discomfort and the vet said he canāt feel any effects of arthritis as a result at this stage, but they may need to have surgery to correct this at some point in their lives if it does get worse. Townie has a slightly more severe case than Whacky so is likely to be the first to undergo any procedure if arthritis symptoms arise.
Both dogs have a super cute smile with an overbite. They recently had a dental clean and extraction surgery so now have super clean teeth. Their mouths are slightly over-crowded, they may still need an extraction or two later in life.
A dry food diet is recommended although some fresh meat and chicken will never go astray. Avoid gravy foods as this really adds to tarter build up. They donāt mind their teeth being cleaned with doggy toothpaste. You will have more success if you put them in a sink on a soft cushion, sing āTwinkle twinkleā to them, taking it slowly and very gently during the process with a good handful of praise.
Townie has sensitive skin, and this will need to be monitored because at this stage, we donāt know what is causing her flare ups. Since coming into care, she has had a course of medications to help get her skin back to normal, and she may have ongoing skin issues in future. It is currently being managed now with medicated cream. Coconut oil is also helpful.
