About Alfalfa
Hi there, I'm Alfalfa, and I make every dish a little more nutritious and a little more fun!
Delicate and for those with a discerning palate, I'm sure to catch the eye of everyone I meet with my beautifully speckled black and white coat. But I'm more than a just a pretty girl, and the right home will help me discover just how much magic I have inside of me.
When the Greyhound Rescue matchmakers asked me what my ideal home looked like, they thought it sounded like a dreamy holiday - a place to relax, a place to be loved, a place where I have the time to find myself and explore this big new world at my own pace. Like everyone, we all just need a little space to find our inner peace, and I'm no different. I love other polite canine friends, because I really value my manners, and I'm learning new ones every day!
A note from Alfalfa's foster family
Alfalfa is doing great in foster care! She is beautiful and absolutely loves pats, but also likes chilling in her own space.
Alfalfa’s favourite things are toilet rolls filled with peanut butter and kibble/treats, pats, squeaky toys, belly rubs!
Alfalfa is doing great at home, she is super chill and usually sleeps all day, although she does have bursts of energy and loves a zoomie in the morning. She will sometimes forget how big she is and try to sit on you!
Alfalfa enjoys her walks and walks really well on a lead. She has a corn on her foot which means shorter walks are best. She is fine going to cafes and parks, but still has to master jumping into the car.
She is fine being left alone at home, although if you are home, she likes to be near you and ask for plenty of attention!
She’s learning her name and some basic training cues. She seems fine with kids, although can get a bit excited while playing sometimes, so encouraging calm behaviour is important. She’s learning about meeting other dogs, but needs a bit more practice to be fully confident.
If you think you'd be interested in meeting me, fill out an application form and the volunteers at Greyhound Rescue will get on the case. Our matchmakers go to greyt lengths to match each hound with the right family to make sure everyone's happy, and you'll become part of a wonderful rescue community with lots of support along the way. Adoption details
All of Greyhound Rescue's adoption and foster placements are on a case-by-case basis. We go to great lengths to match each dog with their new family to make sure that both dog and family are happy. We offer post-adoption support to our rescue community so that each adoptive family and hound are cared for.
The first step is to complete the application form on our website. Then we will arrange a house check. It is important that the right hound goes to the right home! We can arrange for you to meet the dog/s and they can meet your family and/or other pets. Our hounds go “on trial” with your family for a minimum of 2 weeks.
Greyhound Rescue's adoption fee is $420. All our hounds are desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated, and heartworm tested and treated. The adoption fee also includes our New Adopter Kit - collar, leash, muzzle and loads of other goodies to help you get your new hound settled into the family.
