About Hazel ~ 18mo Kelpie X Foxy (On Trial 17/3/21)
Meet adorable Hazel. Hazel is a black/brown Kelpie X Foxy Mix who is 18mths old. She is medium size, approx 10kg weight. She is a beautiful girl who just wants to be close to you. Whoever adopts this girl is in for a world of love. She will fit into a family, couple or single life just perfectly.
Hazel loves a walk and is very well behaved, she does get distracted when something exciting pops up to take her attention. She is easily diverted and settles well. She will continue to learn a great deal as she is very intelligent. Hazel has no problem jumping and will jump to shoulder height when playing or excited, so ideally she will suit older children. Not suited for the elderly as she was surrendered by an older couple for being too energetic.
She interacts beautifully with my disabled son, she is well behaved on our walks and happily trots beside his wheelchair. I often find her curled up on the lounge with him or on his bed asleep. She is content to curl up on the lounge with you or have a game of chase as long as you play because she won’t chase the ball.
Hazel loves to be indoors and is just as happy outside. She sleeps outside here as our house as we are up multiple times during the night and anyone moving disturbs her so it was decided that she sleep outside for her to be able to get a full nights rest. We don’t hear her until she is ready for breakfast.
Due to Hazel's working breed she is not recommended for a home with rabbits or cats as she loves the chase and spends lots of time drooling at the door watching our rabbit. I am sure he races past the window just to torment her.
Hazel still needs some guidance on how to introduce and play with other dogs properly. She currently has sleep overs with a Maltese, who unfortunately can get a little snappy at her when she doesnt take the cues to leave him alone. Hazel would benefit from a family with either no dogs or another friendly, similarly matched energy level male dog. To aid in this, a series of meet and greets will allow us to evaluate compatibility for Hazel and her potential new fur brother.
Hazel will require secure 5-6ft colourbond fencing a minimum requirement. She is very athletic and will not be suitable for low fences or rural/mesh fencing.
Hazel will be sure to make the most pawfect new addition to the right home. If you think you tick all of Hazel's boxes, you can fill out the adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt or for more information please contact Abilgail at abi39@live.com.au
Hazel's adoption fee is $500 and she is microchipped, vaccinated and treated for fleas and worms. Hazel is currently located in Maryland NSW (suburb of Newcastle NSW) with her foster family.
