About Pebbles ~ 3yr Old Kelpie(On trial 13/03/21)
Kelpie lovers, this is one for you! Pebbles is a 3 year old Kelpie girl looking for her new best friend. She is typical of her breed being highly intelligent with plenty of energy to burn. She is very sweet and has good basic manners (sit, lay down, come, stay,) and is a very quick learner. She has a great off-lead recall and is also learning to walk well on a lead.
Pebbles is still learning how to positively socialise with other dogs, as she can initially be a little standoff-ish when first meeting new dogs. Since coming into care she has been learning how to interact positively with other dogs and how to play nicely. She now has lots of fun running and playing with her foster siblings, and she would like to still have this opportunity to play with other dogs in her new home. Her new owner will need to be dedicated to continuing to put time into creating positive social experiences for her. Sometimes she gets a bit overwhelmed with too many dogs/rough play so she would best suit a home with another friendly & calm dog, or a home where she is the only dog. She will also need a child free home or one with dog-savvy kids older than 16 years.
Pebbles’s absolute favourite thing to do is to swim and play in the water, so ideally her new home would have daily access to water for her. She would swim all day if her foster mum would let her. She also just loves to run, so she would make a great jogging/running partner. A walk around the block just won’t cut it for this girl, she needs room to expel her energy and run as fast as she can. Her new home will need to be somewhere with a large backyard or an acreage/hobby farm with a secure dog yard. She has taken to farm life quite well with her foster home, and is well behaved and respectful around other animals such as chickens, cattle and horses.
Pebbles is very athletic and smart, and
would suit someone who will focus on advanced training, dog sports (eg Agility or fly-ball) or give her a “job” to do. Her new owner will need to be tolerant and patient to keep building her confidence. She is happy to sleep inside or out, but does appreciate being a part of what you’re doing during the day, whether it be indoors or outdoors.
