About Pepper ~ Kelpie XPuppy (On Trial 21/2/21)
Pepper is a bright and bubbly ball of fun who would love nothing more than to be a permanent member of an active family. She is a 13 week old Kelpie x Cattle Dog who is interested in EVERYTHING!
Pepper loves to know what’s going on at all times. She follows her people from room to room watching and listening. She needs to be with her people so would be best with a family has someone home most of the time or can take her with them. Pepper is very curious and collects all sorts of things from around the house, mostly things that she isn’t supposed to have including socks, shoes and clothes. She does chew toys and fabric and will need to be closely supervised to make sure she doesn’t swallow anything that she shouldn’t.
Pepper is a very affectionate girl who loves cuddles and belly rubs. She wants to be your number one girl and pushes other dogs out of the way to be as close to you as she can. Pepper would be best as an only dog or with one other friendly male dog. Pepper has not had a lot of exposure to other dogs and can be unsure when first meeting new furry friends. Pepper can be nervous in new situations such as going to the vet, and needs a lot of patience, reassurance and support to help her feel comfortable.
Pepper is very smart and can already sit, drop, and stay for a short period. Pepper needs the ongoing stimulation that positive training will provide to keep her brain and body active. She can use a doggy door and has not had any accidents inside however toilet training may need to be reinforced in a new environment. She loves chasing a ball and playing tug. She is learning to walk on the lead and has learnt the basic idea very quickly. If Pepper is bored she tends to dig or chew so careful attention to ongoing stimulation games and toys is needed.
Pepper loves being inside and will need to be welcome in to be with her family. She has shown some interest in climbing so secure fencing is a must - minimum 5ft and preferably colorbond. She has not had any exposure to children, and on meeting a cat she was interested in chasing so no pocket pets would be best.
As Pepper is not yet desexed, she is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens as she will need to be returned to our vet for desexing when she is approximately 5 months old. Unfortunately this means that we will not allow interstate or out of area adoption.
To register your interest in adopting Pepper, you can fill out the adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt or for more information please contact Sarah-Jane at s-j.hazell@bigpond.com
Pepper's adoption fee is $600 and she is microchipped, vaccinated and treated for fleas and worms. Pepper is currently in foster care in Maitland, NSW.
