About Betty
Arriving into care with her six siblings (also adoptable) Betty is stunning and a bit sassy.
She’s the woman in charge, not afraid to push her pals out of the way to get what she wants,
Socialised with different sights, sounds, and people, Betty is a fun girl who will need a dog-savvy family who are looking for an action-packed super-star pup to go adventuring with.
Please make sure you read the following carefully and meet the criteria before applying:
Whilst Betty's breed is unknown, our best guess is a mix of staffy and some kind of working breed, like kelpie. We believe she will grow to be a medium-sized dog, around the 25+kg mark but of course, this is a guess and any potential new families will need to be comfortable with a bit of a mystery.
- Betty is looking for a home with another confident, friendly doggy pal. Size and breed, don’t matter so much but any new friend will need to be able to comfortably tolerate a bit of wrestling and puppy antics. Betty is best suited to children 10 and up.
- Adoptive families must understand that Betty needs daily training and careful socialisation. Enrolling in ‘force-free' puppy school is a must as is practicing good habits so Betty grows up to be a good canine citizen.
- Betty must have access inside always, a dog door or similar is a must.
- Mental enrichment and exercise! Being a mix of high energy breeds means a lifetime commitment to daily exercise and enrichment. Whilst Betty is still a baby it is important to understand her growing body can’t yet walk long distances nor is he suited to just hanging out at the dog park where they might get overwhelmed or learn inappropriate habits from unknown dogs. That is why mental enrichment is so important, getting creative with training, food puzzles and brain games is essential to having a happy, healthy pup. In the future, however, it’s important to note that Betty will likely need a fair amount of exercise, enrolling Betty into a sport or a nose works class might be ideal.
- Adoptive families will need to have a plan to bring Betty into their home, as Betty has always been surrounded by his siblings, she will need lots of company and assurance to make sure she feels safe and loved. This means being in an environment where she is not left alone for long periods of time. Setting her up for success is super important.
- Located in Sydney, Betty is only adoptable in NSW and the ACT.
* When applying please make sure to give as much detail as possible, other pets, family members, lifestyle, how often a new pup would be alone, where they will have access, etc.
