About Olive
Olive would like to take up residence on your couch and in your heart. A striking brindle beauty, Olive is a gentle and affectionate girl who will exchange immediate, lifelong friendship for ear-rubs. Known to be a total snooze-hound, she loves to sleep 90% of the time and you’ll often find her curled up like a sweet little donut. Olive is a clever snoot, and learnt quickly that couch time happens on an invite-only basis.
She lives for her twice daily walk where she’s a bit of a socialite – Olive is a greyhound who enjoys outings, socialising at the park and meeting new friends – dogs and people alike. Whilst Olive is happy with most dogs she meets, she doesn’t appreciate it when others rush up to her and invade her face-space. Olive walks well on a lead, is house-trained and has already mastered stairs.
Olive would do well as a solo houndie, or with another equally snoozy and cruisy canine companion. Although Olive hasn’t shown any separation anxiety whilst her foster carer is at work, she would prefer humans who work part-time. Olive is a shadow-hound, and when you move through the house, you’ll have an Olive-shaped shadow trailing you!
Most content snoozing the day away, Olive will perk up for food but is still learning that human food is not hers for the taking. She is a total couch potato, lazy and laid-back, and utterly charming to everyone she meets.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
