About Blue
Blue takes cuddling very seriously – he moonlights as a cuddle inspector and he’s always ready to inspect anyone or everyone’s cuddles for quality assurance. He’s a big sweetheart and a total love-bug and will most definitely boost your serotonin. One of the sweetest ways that Blue shows affection is when he buries his face into your chest in what’s called “the forehead of fuss”.
Blue will make you smile when he sinks into his bed and lets out a very guttural grandpa groan of comfort. Blue is very people-orientated and enjoys his own company, more so than other dogs, so would enjoy being the only household hound. Whilst Blue is happy-go-lucky and has been enjoying his time in foster care, he’s still learning to navigate socialisation with other dog breeds (other than greyhounds). He will need continued socialisation and training but has positively interacted with a calm, gentle whippet on one occasion.
One disadvantage of being a cuddle inspector is that when his foster carers go to work, Blue doesn’t quite know what to do with himself. You will need to continue to work on his separation training with him, but he would prefer humans who could work from home, or take him to work, so that he could then conduct mandatory scritch and pat tests with your co-workers.
Blue enjoys a twice daily walk to check his wee-mails and has excellent leash manners. He’ll make you smile when you jangle the lead – he performs an extremely sweet, happy jig. This tap-dance is often performed around dinner time too.
Blue is house-trained and his repertoire already includes sit, stay and on your bed, although sometimes he’s prone to selective hearing. He’s still learning that the sandwich you left on the coffee table doesn’t have his name on it, nor sadly does the snack you left on the bench. You’ll need to make sure that food is put away or out of reach for this silly snoot.
Blue is handsome, gentle, clever, and cheeky – the perfect package with floppy, radar-like ears, and a gorgeous dance-routine.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
