About Tyrone. Perfect retiree companion π
Hi! My name is Tyrone and I'm a gentle, affectionate guy looking for a quiet home with someone who will love me as much as I love them.
I'm a lovable boy who loves to greet my human when they return home with lots of affection and chatting. I love my food and am not a fussy cat, although I do enjoy some occasional flake or butterfish when my foster dad gets fish and chips :D
I love to chase a ball around, and in my down time I love to snuggle on your lap. If I'm not snuggling on your lap I'll be lounging on the furniture, keeping your seat warm for you.
I am FIV positive which doesn't mean much these days except that I need to be kept inside and on good quality food to keep my health in good nick. I'm fine with other friendly cats so they wouldn't have to be FIV+ themselves. I'd be ok without a friend though, I'm really just looking for a human or two who want a loving companion, could that be you?

PLEASE NOTE: Due to our cats being previously stray and rescued from struggling to survive on the street, we have a strict NO CATS OUTDOORS policy. This is because although our cats have been rehabilitated from their past, their brain still retains fear towards 'outside', as living wild was only ever scary to them, they are not the same as domestic cats who've grown up in human homes since kittenhood. This is important to keep in mind if you were hoping to adopt from us and have your adopted cat living inside and outside, or even just with supervised time outside, as unfortunately it won't be possible. Please consider this before making an enquiry. Thankyou <3
Medical notes
* Tyrone is FIV positive however please don't click off his profile on reading this, FIVΒ is an unnecessary (and heartbreaking) barrier to amazing cats finding forever homes.
Essentially it just means their immune system isn't as strong as a normal cat and needs a bit of help to fight general illnesses, and we give them this help through good nutrition, low stress and inside living.Β Many of our volunteers have FIV cats (who live in harmony with non FIV cats) and find that with a good quality dry food as their staple food and an occasional vet visit to check on things is suffice to keep these guys healthy. As long as they're vaccinated and aren't exposed to cats which could be carrying illnesses, there's no reason an FIV cat would be any less healthy than a non FIV cat. Please contact us if you have any questions about FIV or would like to discuss our gorgeous boy fitting into your home, we'd love you to give him a chance and know he'll reward you a thousand times over with the love he has to give :)
How cats contract FIV:
Alot of FIV cats (nearly all that rescue orgs come across!) are gentle, cat friendly and submissive. We believe they contract FIV via being bullied by more dominant roaming males, NOT from being aggressive - FIV does NOT equal aggression. A sweet boy like Tyrone is not a threat to other cats, FIV is ONLY transferred by deep bite wounds where the FIV cat's saliva and the other cat's blood mix, this means there has to be a serious fight for transference to happen. Tyrone would never initiate a fight with your existing cat if you have one, and if your cat is used to others and will happily accept a newbie into your home they'd be absolutely fine together.
For the same reason, although Tyrone wouldn't CAUSE the transference of FIV, he should be kept as an inside cat to avoid the chance of a roaming male seeing him as a threat and starting a punch on :)

About Sunny Days:
Sunny Days Rescue & Rehab is a registered charity, foster care network and private shelter, focusing on the rescue, rehab and rehoming of βtrue strayβ cats - cats who've never had experience with humans or a human home.
The overall objective of our organisation is to:
π successfully physically and psychologically rehabilitate terrified cats and find them homes which understand their needs and are compassionate to their history,
π remove complete stray cat colonies from the community and ensure they will never breed again or be back on the street again,
π provide an example of the potential to rehab unsocialised cats to other organisations who may not have understood or attempted to achieve that potential before,
π educate the community on how many stray cats are hiding in the dark corners of community trying to survive and that desexing is the only way to begin to lessen these numbers and the resulting suffering,
π provide an opportunity for volunteers to learn animal husbandry and handling skills to a high level which may help them in their future work in animal welfare and as pet owners,
π and provide an opportunity for compassionate people to come together and pool their skills for the betterment of a demographic of animal that is mostly ignored and misunderstood despite us humans being their source and the reason they even exist.
Please support us in our important work by clicking the pink DONATE button on this page. Thankyou! π
