About Spotty
6.5 yo handsome gentleman Spotty is ready to find his perfect forever people.
Since coming to Amazing Greys, Spotty has settled into “couch potato” life very well. Having clearly read the memo, one of his favourite activities is snoozing on the couch. He does find a good squeaky toy hard to resist though.
Spotty is currently in foster care with 1 younger greyhound, 2 pointers, and a whippet. He tolerates all their antics with grace and humour. But like the dignified gentlemen he is, indulges in only a short play before resuming his supervisory role on the couch. Spotty will ideally go into a home with other med/large dogs for companionship. However, he can be an independent soul and we believe would be happy as a solo dog too with part-time workers or people not out of the home for long periods.
Spotty is a generally good boy in the home but loves his food and will counter-surf if given the opportunity. Being a tall lad, his new home will be careful to keep goodies out of reach. Spotty would like a home with some outdoor space, mostly because he likes to wee straight after/midway through his meals. Just a quirk of his! He is house-trained however currently has indoor/outdoor access, so his new home will need to help him learn a routine if this is not possible.
Spotty is very calm on the lead, he doesn’t pull and he enjoys going for a walk. He is quite interested in smaller animals though and will bark if he can see them (rabbits, guinea pigs, sheep). Spotty is not small dog friendly.
Spotty hasn’t spent a lot of time home alone and has had other dogs for company when his foster carer is out. We think he would be okay with PT workers who are not away for long periods and are prepared to work with Spotty for any separation anxiety he may have. This would require access to a comfortable couch while you are out, stimulation/enrichment toys, and a slow introduction to longer hours home alone.
Spotty has some experience with older children and is a laid back and tolerant pup. He does sometimes jump in excitement, so could be a bit boisterous for a home with very small children. He generally only does this when the lead comes out because walks and car rides are just the best.
