About Maggie
Maggie is one gentle, kind, polite sweetheart that will just melt your heart. This beautiful girl is looking for a quiet household that can offer her lots of cuddles on the couch, playtime at an off-lead dog park or beach (after giving her a few months to settle in), chasing a ball in the yard and being close to her human whenever you are home. She's an inside dog and will bark for your attention if you leave her outside and you’re having fun inside without her. If you’re not home though, she’s happy to stay outside if you provide some entertainment.
Sticks, balls, squeaky toys - if you want to play, she’ll want to play. She’s pretty easy to please, you just need to throw a few things around and she’ll appreciate you forever. Daily exercise or some form of mental stimulation will only help her feel more content in life and love you even more.
Maggie is great with most other dogs; she is always very cautious, calm and unbothered when she’s off-lead in the dog park. She’s totally happy to be the only dog in the park if that’s the case and loves the attention/playtime with her humans. Whilst she understands basic commands, Maggie loves to learn new things and is always up for new tricks! Though she’s not always the fastest learner, she always wants to impress you and will try her best when encouraged.
Maggie is extremely sensitive to sudden noises, especially loud traffic, so walking her on a lead next to a busy road is not something she enjoys. She is looking for a home where this is understood and busy environments are avoided so she feels safe. She is fine walking on a lead in a very quiet street when she feels comfortable, so sometimes you’ll need to take the long way around (which is fine with Maggie as it means more things to sniff!).
She has been around babies/young kids and is mostly not too bothered by them but she does get aroused/scared when little humans get too excited. The fast movement and loud noises set her off and she has been known to bark consistently at the little people as a response to try and tell them to stop. Homes with younger children won’t be ruled out, as long as they can understand she needs her space.
Maggie can be a little vocal at times and does tend to bark if people come too close to the house unexpectedly or unannounced (or are visible from the backyard). A quiet environment would see her thrive, and visitors announcing themselves with a knock or a doorbell (instead of just walking in) would be ideal.
Maggie has been happy to share her bed with her doggo friends in the past so would most likely be fine living with another furry friend if they are chilled out, easy-going and understand personal space. Not tested with cats so we don’t know if she’d share her bed with them!
For Maggie to be the best version of herself, she is looking for someone that can provide:
- A quiet environment away from any busy roads and traffic
- A quieter home with older, calm, dog savvy children (if any)
- Consistency, structure and patience
- Someone that intends to take her to off-lead locations to run around OR has a large backyard
Maggie has sooo much to give to the right person/family. As long as she can find someone that truly offers her patience and can provide stability for her, she will shower you with unconditional love and become your new best friend.
Note: this is a reluctant rehoming situation with the owner recently relocating to Italy.
