About Molly
(Almost) 5-year-old Molly is ready to find her perfect forever people.
Molly is a real ‘people’ hound and loves to follow her humans around, supervising whatever they are doing. She is currently living as an only dog and would be happy continuing to be the sole focus of her human’s adoration. We also think Molly could be happy with a large or medium breed canine companion, pending a meet and greet. A multi-dog home will be aware that Molly does sometimes resource guard her bed and toys from other dogs, and that this will need sensible management and ongoing positive reinforcement training.
Molly loves going for walks and has mastered loose-leash walking. She is pretty good with other dogs but can react to small dogs or off-leash dogs if they get too close. She loves to sniff everything she can, so expect walks to involve a lot of pausing to take in the local smells.
Molly is house-trained, and has learned some basic commands, such as ‘wait’ (for her food), 'on your bed', and 'down'. Molly is a clever girl and keen to keep learning in her new home. She does sometimes counter-surf and her new home will be careful to keep human food out of reach, and to continue to work on 'leave it' or 'trade up' cues.
In her first foster home, Molly was home alone for up to 8 hours with no issues. However, in her second foster home she has only been home alone for around 2 hours at a time. Any potential homes with long working hours, will need some time to help her settle into her new home before building up to long days home alone again.
Molly would best suit a home with only adults, or a family with children teenage years and above. This is because Molly can be boisterous in greeting (she is still learning not to jump) and has shown some resource guarding tendencies with her bed and high value food. Amazing Greys has lots of resources and experience to help with any ongoing training needs for the right home.
Molly has a beautiful personality and forms strong attachments with people. She will suit people who would like to build a close relationship with their pup and have lots of time to talk and play with her every day.
