ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS - BONDED PAIR WITH RORSCHACH - GENTLE MATURE CHILDREN OR GUINEA PIG EXPERIENCED FAMILY - SUITABLE ENCLOSURE PRIOR TO ADOPTION

Hello! My name is Cecil and I was surrendered with my brother, Rorschach, due to no fault of our own. When we were first surrendered, we had hair loss that is commonly caused by vitamin C deficiency, mites or barbering. Due to this, we had spent approximately 2 months in foster care to complete our treatment and are now finally ready for our forever home! We have always lived together and therefore need to be adopted together. Although we love each other and seek comfort from each other when we are scared, we are male guinea pigs who very much need our own territory to be happy and live peacefully (including separate hidey boxes and multiple or large food bowls). For a pair of guinea pigs, the RSPCA knowledgebase recommends a minimum enclosure size of 2m x 0.5m x 25cm high and ideally have access to a safe, secure larger area where we can run and exercise. Initially my brother and I were very scared guinea pigs who took some time (and many veggie bribes) to get used to being handled by people and learn that pats or head scratches can actually be quite nice! We will also make excited wheeking sounds and come up to take veggies from your hand once we know you and the routine. I am more delicate than my brother and have been told that I have the loudest squeal in the universe - although I have learnt that maybe the world is not as scary as I thought and I don't squeal as much anymore! I am also less patient than my brother and if you are handling me for too long and ignore my signals of wanting to be away, I will nip you! To see our true, delightful personalities, we need a patient human who will give us daily gentle and consistent handling and interaction. Guinea pigs can live up to 8 years and are NOT 'easy first time starter pets to get for young children' - they take just as much time, responsibility and need the same amount of love and care as other pets to keep them healthy and happy.
