About Roxy
I was recently transferred to Lort Smith from a rural shelter to better the chances of finding me the right home.
I would prefer to be the only animal of the household as I love all of the attention to myself. I consider myself a bit of a lap dog and love to be by my carer's side.
I sometimes get excitable when I see other dogs whilst out on a walk and will vocalise and pull to get towards them. I am not a nasty dog in the slightest but some dogs might take me the wrong way. For this reason, I will need an adopter that will be able to help me with improving my manners. I am however, very people focused, highly trainable and I LOVE food, so training with me will be a lot of fun.
Even though I am an older girl, I still have lots of energy, so will need an active home with someone that can take me only daily walks and provide me with play time, mental stimulation and enrichment.
A quieter home with one-two people would be ideal for me, with someone that either works from home permanently or is retired. I tend to get a little upset when left alone. I will need someone that is willing to put in the extra effort to train me that it is okay to be left alone for periods of time.
I will be a foster with a view to adopt whilst I settle into my new home and take medication to reduce my anxiety. the Lort Smith team will provide lots of advice and support as you assist me with my independence training.
I have previously suffered ear infections, so I have been prescribed a weekly ear cleanser to reduce the risk of these reoccurring.
If you think I sound like a perfect fit for you, please contact the Lort Smith Adoption Hub.
Medical notes
On anxiety meds until settles into new home. Previously suffered ear infections so has prescribed weekly ear cleanser.
