About Maggie
Little Miss Maggie is a fun and affectionate companion who is looking for a new home due to no fault of her own. She falls in the category of a lap dog as she loves attention and cuddles from her family. Maggie thoroughly enjoys chasing and playing with balls. She also enjoys chewing on her toys and playing in water. Although middle aged, she is still energetic and enjoys interacting with her owners and getting out and about.
Maggie loves to get out and about for her walks. She walks well on a normal lead or will charge ahead in enthusiasm on an extendable lead. A daily walk is needed to keep her happy. Maggie lacks confidence with other dogs she does not know. This means that she can be barky at other dogs she spots on walks and that she is not suitable to be off lead at a dog park/beach. She is currently in care with another dog who she likes and gets along well with as it gives her space. Maggie can be rehomed with another calm and friendly dog who is easy going and not boisterous as she is not interested in playing with other dogs.
At home Maggie has good manners in the house. She loves to sleep on the bed with her human at night snuggling deep in the bed under the covers, but she is content to sleep on her own bed on the floor as well if that is what you ask her to do. Regardless, she sleeps soundly through the night. Maggie does need a little bit of a touch up on her toilet training but is improving with the new routine and structure in her temporary care home.
Maggie is more than happy to jump up on the couch, but being a dachshund, she should not be allowed to jump on and off furniture due to the breed’s susceptibility for back issues. She would also be best in a home with minimal or no stairs for the same reason. Maggie is currently a bit overweight. Her new owners need to be committed to a healthy diet and appropriate exercise to get her to a more appropriate weight that will take stress off her back.
We are looking for a dog experienced home for Maggie where she will be a part of the family and taken on daily outings. She will need a home where someone is home most of the time as this is what she is used to. Maggie is fine to be an only dog but will get anxious if left home alone for too long. She does get nervous and unsettled around children, so she needs an adult only home. Maggie should be an inside dog who is allowed to sleep inside at night. She is untested with cats, so a feline free home is recommended.
If you would like to offer Maggie a new home then please complete a Dog Adoption Enquiry Form on the Fetching Dogs website as the first step.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
