About Holly
Introducing HOLLY, a member of the Christmas Litter, 11 adorable puppies born on 10 November 2020.
We're awaiting their DNA Breed Testing results, but suspect, as does our vet, that Holly and her littermates are American Staffordshire Terrier mixes, perhaps with a dollop or two of Catahoula Leopard Dog and who knows what else.
Photos of Holly's mum and dad appear in this profile, so you can make your own assessment, pending receipt of the DNA results, due in early February. Holly's mum, who has stunning blue eyes, is about 22 kgs and her dad is maybe a little bit bigger. We expect Holly to grow into an athletic, medium-sized dog. Holly has one of her Mum's blue eyes and one of her dad's brown eyes.
The American Staffordshire Terrier is affectionate, loyal, and good with children, making it an outstanding family pet. However, ongoing human companionship and extensive socialization is paramount. You cannot put an AmStaff in the backyard and forget about it. It needs to live as part of the family and that means access to the home and family.
Along with her 10 littermates, Holly is currently living in family foster care where she is cuddled and snuggled and generally regarded as a valuable member of the family. She is affectionate and very well socialised and should have no difficulty whatsoever transitioning to her forever home.
Catahoulas are also very affectionate with their humans. Being working dogs, they need plenty of exercise and mental stimulation, without which they may develop unwanted behaviours such as hole-digging and chewing. If you can meet their needs, you’ll have a devoted family member for life.
Holly's adoption fee is $795, which includes her desexing and microchipping (to be undertaken on 9 February 2021) and two vaccinations (administered on 4 January and 4 February). She will be ready to go to her new home from 11 February.
If you are interested in meeting Holly, PLEASE COMPLETE OUR ONLINE APPLICATION FORM at https://southerndownsark.com.au/apply-to-adopt/
Preference will be given to homes where Holly is allowed inside and where someone is around most of the time and/or there is another dog for her to play with. Secure fencing and daily opportunities for exercise and mental stimulation are essential.
Applicants must be willing to travel to Warwick, Queensland to meet Holly.
