About Floyd
💙 💙 💙 F L O Y D 💙 💙 💙
Floyd arrived at the shelter back on the 16th of January, making him our longest resident🥺
Floyd was born at our shelter just over 2 years ago, sadly however his family were no longer able to keep him and he has found himself once again in search of his forever home🏡
Floyd is a super handsome, cheeky, loveable, playful, cuddly and goofy boy with an incredible zest for life🌟
He absolutely LOVES his toys and playing fetch, LOVES his people, LOVES doing zoomies, LOVES playing in the water, LOVES going for walkies & adventures, LOVES car rides & LOVES snuggles
🧸 🎾🧑🌪 💦 🐕🦺 🏞 🚗 🤗
Floyd is a big strong boy, he will require being walked in a harness or halti and by someone who has the strength to hold him💪🏽
Floyd knows how to sit, shake hands & wait. He is very food motivated, responsive & attentive. He is a clever boy & would benefit from further training & impulse control🎓
When he is super duper excited he forgets how big he is and can be mouthy and pounce around like a jack in the box. Further training will help this however due to these tendency’s he is best suited to a home without children❗️
As much as he loves to play and have a good time he also loves being a lounge lizard! He is used to being allowed inside & is housetrained🤩
‼️Floyd is best suited as the only animal at home‼️
He has had one doggy friend since being at the shelter, he is very rough in play which accelerates if the other dog reacts or squeals. His behaviour towards other dogs has since deteriorated whilst being in a shelter environment. Once settled in at home further socialisation with other dogs in a controlled environment with an experienced handler would be very beneficial for him & his socialisation🐶
Floyd requires a special, dedicated & experienced family as he does have a few quirks that will require continual work, training & socialisation so that he can learn to be the best boy that he can: ✅
▪️ He can initially be wary of new people and may bark at them – particularly people in hi vis clothing & people wearing hats 🦺 🧢
▪️ He is protective of his people and environment and will bark at anyone he doesn’t know approaching the yard/house🏠
▪️ He will pull toward & lunge toward moving cars and bikes when out on a walk 🚙 🚲
When Floyd first arrived at the shelter he had very itchy red skin! He has since been diagnosed with dermatitis of the unpigmented areas of his skin. This will require ongoing management especially during peak flare up times! He is currently being treated with Cytopoint 🩺
One of our wonderful local training facilities Paradise Pet Parks have provided a one on one training session and a full 5 week group class free of charge for Floyd and his future owner!
This beautiful boy has won all of our hearts at the Shelter, his vibrance brightens all of our days💓
Are you Floyd’s happily ever after?
