About Abbie
At almost 6-years old greyhound girl Abbie is ready to find her forever home. She is a loving girl adapting well to her new life as an adored companion.
Abbie is currently living it up as the solo hound in her foster home and loves receiving her human’s undivided attention. Abbie would be happy as an only dog in her forever home provided she has people around for company most of the time. Abbie does show signs of separation anxiety and will need further alone time training (Amazing Greys can help with resources for this). She’s currently comfortable being left alone for about 1.5 hours, and a new home will need to slowly build on this.
Abbie walks well on-leash and enjoys exploring her local neighbourhood. She is working on some socialisation skills with other breeds, but this will need to be taken slowly. Abbie is not small dog or cat friendly.
Abbie’s a clever girl and has been learning some basic commands including her name, ‘touch’, ‘hand’ and ‘back’. Abbie’s favourite training treats are cheese and sausage pieces. We suspect Abbie was food deprived early on in life, and she will steal any food left unattended, and her new home will need to carefully manage this.
Abbie is currently living in a home with a yard and enjoys her daily zoomies. However, she’s a typical greyhound and likes to laze away for the better part of the day. We think Abbie could adjust well to life in a smaller home or apartment, provided she was given two walks per day with lots of time allowed for sniffing. Abbie is house-trained but an early riser.
Abbie does not have any experience with young children and could be a bit big and boisterous for them. She would potentially be happy in a dog-savvy home with older children, but is also well suited to a home with just adults.
