About Bella ~ 8yr Old Fox Terrier X (On Trial 11.03.21)
Introducing Bella - a 8 year old Fox Terrier cross. Bella is like most Fox Terriers she is both smart and energetic.
Bella is very loving once she starts to bond. She will follow you around and want to spend
time with you. Bella is an absolute softie with her foster parents. She is quiet and gentle, loving a good brush and cuddles on your lap. She sleeps on her bed inside the house. We have had her in our bedroom from the start and she is very happy with this arrangement. I believe she was sleeping on the bed with the previous owner.
When out side she likes to explore the yard looking for lizards and things. She is not a ball chaser. She really loves a walk. The longer the better, 5km a day has been our objective depending on the weather. I recommend using a harness to walk her. She will pull on the lead a bit but not excessively. When with another dog on lead she wants to be the leader out in
front but will walk happily beside you when by herself.
Typical of the breed she will bark at other dogs and try and have a go at them and the reason for using a harness. This is something to be aware of. She gets along with other dogs when in the yard. She does not like
rough play. She has stated her dominance over the other dogs she has met whilst in my care. She does get along well with our cat.
It is important that Bella's new family understand that she needs time to settle in and learn her new surroundings and routine. It will take Bella some time to get used to new things and a knowledgeable home regarding the breed and their requirements will be most favourable. Bella will not suit a family or home environment that will rush her out into new senarios or pressure her into situations that would make her uncomfortable.
Bella loves a ride in the car. She is a great passenger looking out at what goes by. She is very
happy and content after a trip out. Bella likes to defend the house and will let you know when someone comes to the door or when another dog walks past. She does not bark excessively and is quiet again as soon as they have passed.
Bella responds well to food based training aids which will assist her new family in helping her to settle and learn the routine and way of the home. Bella can sometimes be protective of her food around other dogs, so its best that she has her own special place to enjoy her meals. Bella will need some encouragement with thunder and loud noises such as the mower as well as these can tend to scare her.
Bella will not suit a home with any young children under the age of 12. She requires a home with an active adult only family or single. As with all our dogs and puppies, Bella requires a safe and secure yard environment for her to call home. Please ensure you have a safe backyard to offer Bella in her new home. She must be allowed to come inside and be apart of your family as this is what she is most accustomed to.
