Hi everyone! My name is Lu, pleased to meet you! I was rescued by Off The Chain after my owners abandoned me in a council pound and I ran out of time. We don't know why they did that, but I guess I'm just another of the hundreds of dogs yearly that are dumped when we aren't cute puppies anymore. It's their loss- I am an amazing dog that will make a loyal friend for my new family! I am a bit of mix of breeds, but definitely some staffy in there, mixed with something taller - I am fully grown at 32kg. 32kg of snuggle bug!
Since coming into care, I have proven to be a lovely, friendly girl, who really deserves a second chance at life. I currently live with 2 adult humans, small human children, cats, an adult dog and some puppies (not my puppies! Other foster puppies). I get along great with everyone here, though it took me a while to understand what a cat was and that I can't yell at them and chase them! I wasn't aggressive with them, just curious but my carers are training me to be more relaxed as we don't want to stress the cats! I am wonderful with the children here and really loving life.
I am a flexible and easily pleased girl, who sometimes sleeps inside at night in a crate, and others I sleep outside. I spend about 5hrs a day home alone with the other dogs, while my humans are away. I just hang out and play with them and keep myself busy. I get excited when everyone is home, but I also don't mind entertaining myself while they're gone, and don't fret as long as I have another dog for company.
I currently live behind a 6ft fence and would need 5ft or higher in my new home, to keep me safe. I don't have a huge desire to escape, but am an opportunist and jumped a 4ft fence during testing, so a good fence is important! I travel ok in the car, but sometimes get a little car sick on long drives (45min+). I was beautifully natured at the vet clinic, and even though it was obvious I haven't had much medical care until OTC saved me, and I was a bit nervous- I still happily let them feed me treats and do what they needed.
I love rope toys- I will either fetch with you, or just throw the rope around myself, or play tug with the other dog. I know how to come, sit and drop, and am working on shake. I have also learned how to drop whatever I am holding if you ask me. Sometimes when I am really excited meeting strangers, I will jump up in excitement- but this is something I am learning to stop.
I have no known fears or phobias; I come inside for storms and don't like them, but I don't get super stressed either. I just like to sit with you and wait it out. When I first arrived, I was a bit growly at the other dog when we had dinner, but my carers have solved that by providing routine and structure, feeding us separately, and never leaving food bowls or bones down. I've never been growly at humans and have a wonderful, loving nature.
So what do you think- do I sound like the match for you? If so, please apply to adopt me asap. A pretty girl like me won't be around long!

Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the pet. If you apply to adopt but require us to hold the pet more than 3 days before meeting, we will ask you for a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the pet, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters. If you follow through with adoption after your meet, the $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the pet. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you place a $100 holding fee on the animal- the day you collect the pet you will sign an adoption contract and pay the remaining $350 fee.
All animals are adopted out with vaccinations up to date; any vaccinations due from date of adoption are the ethical and financial responsibility of the adopter. During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must notify OTC, and present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic we direct you to in your area. OTC will cover any treatment needed at our authorised clinics.
Ready to roll? Then fill out the application form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox. (www.facebook.com/offthechaink9)
