About Kiara
Kiara is a sweet girl with a dorky personality that matches her big ears. When she gets to know you, she is very loving and laps up all the attention that is on offer as she adores being given pats, cuddles and treats. Kiara is timid with strangers and will avoid interactions until she sees her carer interacting with them – she then gets curious and wants to go and say hello. She will warm up quickly to new people, especially when there are treats and pats on offer!
Splashing around in her shell pool is one of her favourite things – even if it isn’t a hot day. She also likes to lie in the sun and play with her toys which she tosses in the air and shakes. Kiara is relatively active and requires a substantial walk each day. She is walking well on lead but can be excited when first out the door and can over focus on other dogs she sees out and about on her walks so requires an experienced dog handler who can provide appropriate correction to keep her on the right path and refocus her. Once she has settled into the walk she heels well, walking next to you.
Kiara enjoys the company of other dogs with calm temperaments. She would do well living with another calm and stable adult dog who could give her guidance. Exuberant dogs and those that will not respect her space are too overwhelming for her. Kiara does play bow and bounce around the other dog she is currently living with so she may become playful with a dog she builds a trusting relationship with over time. She is not a suitable dog to take to dog off lead areas at this point in time as she does not have enough confidence around other dogs.
During her time in care, she has been learning her basic manners. She is a smart girl and a quick learner who is food motivated. Kiara can sit, lay down, do ‘touch’ and responds to her name. She is crate trained, toilet trained and has good house manners, although don’t think that a baby gate will keep her from following you around the house! Her new home should be quiet as loud noises or fast movements can still spook her a bit. Kiara is a large medium sized dog – medium in height but around 24-26kg in weight.
We are looking for an experienced home for Kiara where she will be given the time, space and attention to further develop and gain her confidence. She will need a handler who has experience with rescue or timid dogs that can provide clear guidance and direction while continuing her training. Kiara is quite attached to her humans so we are looking for a home where someone will be home most of the time (any more than 4hrs alone can cause her to become anxious and start to bark) and preferably with another dog to provide her with companionship.
Her new home should be adult only – she has met some kids and was well behaved with them, but kids are going to be too loud and boisterous for her full time. Kiara is not suitable to live with other animals at this point in time as she has not had exposure and will probably chase and accidently squish them.
Kiara may still require some time and patience, but she will reward her new owners with so much love and laughs that it will all be worth it for them. If you think this sweet girl could fit into your home then you are welcome to apply by completing a Dog Adoption Enquiry form on the Fetching Dogs website.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
