About Daisy
(Almost) 3-years old Daisy is a friendly, loving and beautiful girl who loves to give floppy, sloppy kisses, who adores her human and canine friends, and enjoys a good run followed by a nap on the couch.
Daisy first entered foster care as an only dog however was anxious when left home alone, so we moved her into a foster home where she has other canine companions. Daisy is friends with other greyhounds, a whippet, and two German pointers. Daisy needs a doggy companion (greyhound or other med-large breed) in her new home as she loves to play, and is less anxious when her humans go out if she has a friend. Daisy is not suited to a home with small dogs or cats.
Daisy loves to have a play and run around and would like some outdoor yard space in her new home. In between play sessions, she is a typical greyhound who likes to sleep the day away.
Daisy had a tough start to life and there are still some things she is getting used to, that her new home will need to be patient and understanding with. Daisy is extremely food obsessed, and we suspect she was starved/malnourished at some point of her early life. She is a champion counter surfer and will steal any food unattended. Daisy’s new home must be vigilant about keeping food out of her reach while she continues to learn that regular meals are coming.
Daisy can also be timid if she hears raised voices or is touched when not expecting it. Daisy would prefer her new home to be quiet and laid back, as she feels safest in a peaceful environment. Daisy is still learning not to jump when excited or when greeting people, and occasionally mouths for attention. For this reason, Daisy would be too boisterous for a home with young children or elderly people.
Daisy is starting to learn basic commands and is food motivated for training. However, her new home should be willing to continue with this. She has limited experience walking on leash due to a shoulder wound (that has recently healed) and having lots of outdoor space to play, however she generally walks nicely and is excited for a walk.
A particular Daisy quirk is that she likes to steal shoes and other human belongings. She doesn’t chew, but enjoys watching her human search around the yard for them. She's adorably cheeky :)
