About Miki
IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE PROFILE YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE AN APPLICATION FORM.
Hi my name is Miki and I’m a four year old Toy Poodle. I’m looking for a new forever home that has some very specific requirements, so please don’t skip reading this and apply just because I’m cute (Yes, I know I’m cute!)
• Firstly, my home will have NO CHILDREN OR CHILD VISITORS. 16+ will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
• My new parents will NOT be looking for a lap dog to sit with them all day or all evening, I’m not a lapdog. I would not suit a retirement home situation.
• My new home could be a unit, apartment, townhouse or regular house – I don’t mind as long as there is enough room for you to throw the ball – again, and again, and again. I love walks but don’t care about days when there isn’t one.
• You must have a lot of balls – no other toys required. Maybe a ball thrower. And a spare person to throw the ball when you are tired.
• I’m not a going hiking or running off lead at the beach sort of boy, I’m a hanging out with the family sort of boy.
• I’m happy to live with cats, I like them.
• I’d love to live with a CALM, non-intrusive sort of dog. If your current dog wants me to play, that’s not for me. If your current dog wants to invade my personal space, no thank you, that’s not for me either!
• I require grooming every 6-8 weeks, and you’ll need a skilled and understanding groomer.
Hi, I’m Miki’s Foster Mum,
Miki is being rehabilitated for INTENSE RESOURCE GUARDING, and is looking for a home with structure, rules, and parents who are willing and able to keep up the training he is now used to. This will include crate training, rules around spending time inside/on furniture, reinforcing general good manners, and willingness to obedience train. He should have NO ACCESS TO CHILDREN.
If you’re a pushover he’ll be all over that in no time and revert to doing what he does best – guarding his personal space. And once he knows he can, he will. If he knows he cannot – outbursts are rare, but not eradicated, so you’ll need to be prepared to put your foot down.
Miki is good with my dogs but would show his teeth (maybe more) to a dog who doesn’t get the idea of personal space so no playful canine buddies – they must be prepared to just hang out. He doesn’t play with them; he wants to play with you. Ball is the only game; no other toys will be needed – but perversely never guards the ball. Fine with a confident cat. Excited by visitors. Loves a walk but doesn’t care if there isn’t one – as long as you throw the ball!!! And he doesn’t suffer separation anxiety, so being left alone outside when you are not home should not be an issue once he’s settled in.
To apply for Miki send an email to caninelifeline@hotmail and head your email “I DON’T HAVE KIDS, PLEASE SEND ME AN APPLICATION FOR MIKI” so that I know that you have read this whole profile, or no application form will be sent out.
Medical notes
Miki has no major medical requirements.
