Maverick

Winning hearts all over the Inner-West, Maverick is ready to find a forever home that will shower him with love and kindness!

Maverick is a sweet little cuddle-bug with a beautiful temperament and big personality. He is perfectly toilet trained, sleeps through the night and loves to learn new tricks! Currently Maverick knows the standard sit, stay, shake, hi-5, rollover, spin and crawl – recently adding jumping through hoops, over hurdles and dancing to his repertoire.

Maverick is incredibly intelligent, loves to learn and wants nothing more than to please you! He is a very loving pooch who adores cuddles and being close to his humans. Maverick is highly emotionally attuned and can be a sensitive soul at times, therefore it's important that his new home offers gentle corrections and guidance.

Previously living with teenagers (and luckily sleeping in their beds), Maverick has demonstrated his love for all humans – big and small. He shows no reactivity around food or toys and has been around children from 6 months up. He would be well suited for a family however due to selective on-lead reactivity towards other dogs, it is believed that he would do best as the only pet in the household.

In the first few years of his life, he has lived with three families and due to this displacement, he has significant separation anxiety. Maverick has been working with a behaviouralist and his current family for six months to improve his behaviour but becomes quite distressed if he is left alone for longer than 15 minutes. Maverick takes anxiety medication daily, but it will be important that his new home can commit to working with him daily to improve this behaviour while ensuring that he is not left alone for extended periods of time.

While Maverick currently lives in a large one-bedroom apartment, it is believed that a home with a secure yard would be best so that he can learn to independently explore and play. Currently Maverick is walked for around 30 - 60 minutes per day and is content lounging around home occasionally playing with his soft toys in his down time.

Maverick's current family are eager to support a successful transition to his new home and are confident he will make a beautiful addition to the right household.
