About Riley
Based In Horsham Rural City Council - 3.5 hours away from Melbourne
Riley is a very handsome 16 month old male German Shepherd!
Riley is looking for a home ready to put in the time and effort needed to teach this young fella his doggy manners. He knows his basic commands, but they could do with some fine-tuning, as could his understanding of boundaries. He is very food motivated and eager to learn. We believe he would excel in ongoing positive based training, and love bonding with his new person, whilst they learn together. Riley is quite good on lead but will pull if boundaries aren't set and kept.
Riley has been an inside/outside dog, and he’s a real smoocher, and would love to be welcomed inside as part of the family. He’s such a clever boy, we are sure he will pick up toilet training in no time at all!
Riley gets very excited at times, and will jump up to greet his people. He is very friendly with everyone he meets, but he could accidentally knock over small children; we are searching for a home where everyone is over the age of 10, and any kids have experience with large breed dogs.
Riley must go to a home with secure fencing, and cannot go to a home with cats, livestock or other small animals. Riley would be best as an only dog or may be happy to integrate with a accepting female dog.
He needs lots of mental and physical stimulation to occupy him during the day ... he is happy to be confined in a yard if required.
Riley will easily scale fences if he is left to his own devices and find his own entertainment.
He requires a very knowledgeable home that has some breed experience
This lovely young boy is a sweetheart who is still such a goofball pup. Riley is extremely affectionate, and is desperately seeking a new family who will love him as much as he loves them! He needs a strong pack leader with consistent rules and boundaries.
Adoption details
We like to take the personal approach where a person sends an email of interest around an animal and then we will follow up with phone discussions and email exploration through a survey.
Please note we are a small group of volunteers that balances the administrative side with the care of the animals.
Please only apply for one of our animals if you are genuinely interested in them.
We expect the prospective owner to travel to meet the animal and we are open to trial periods to ensure we have the match right.
