About Marley
Introducing our little pocket rocket Marley
This little man while small, once happy and comfortable in his surroundings is a beautiful little fellow with lots of energy.
Marley will seek out the companionship of his humans, but he isn’t a lap dog. He loves being around his humans and will lay down by their feet, he will follow his humans everywhere (everyone wants their only personal furry shadow don't they?)
Marley has learnt that it's fun to jump onto couches and beds to lay down next to his humans and of course does expect a pat in return. Please note he is not a huge fan of lying on his human's lap
Marley is always excited to see his humans and love doing the 'coffee table zoomie run'.
Marley has a very inquisitive and playful personality. He is very curious and inspects everything. It is not unusual for him to be off exploring somewhere, playing with his toys.
He can play the same game over and over.
Marley doesn’t like to be left alone for long periods of time and barks when he is left alone, so Marley's ideal home would be where someone is home more often then not and would want to include him as an important part of the family.
If children are in the equation, Paw Prints Canine Rescue believes it would be better for Marley to go with older children (over 10 years of age) as he is not comfortable being picked up and held unless he is wanting too.
Marley is a top security dog and barks whenever someone enters the house, at the sound of the doorbell, people walking in the street and when he hears the next-door fur baby.
Marley is standoffish with strangers and usually settles down when he has had a sniff and a pat.
Marley’s foster mum believes that socialisation is important to help him build a confident attitude towards people. Marley is more then happy to be the only dog at his home and would prefer this - he can have a different reaction meeting different dogs.
Marley is obedient and listens to commands like “common on Marley time for a toilet break”. Marley is good with toilet training now. He did well with his toilet training and his foster mum is so impressed with how quickly he learnt. The doggy door is a bit scary for him, so he prefers his humans to open the door for him for regular toilet breaks but we are sure over time (and of course treats) Marley will happily learn to use the doggy door more - we personally think it's all about the attention for him!
Marley loves chasing flies and playing with his toys. He also loves it when his humans play tug of war with him.
Marley likes belly rubs and pats and he will quickly tell you when he has had enough.
Marley is still working on having the harness put on for walks but over time he seems to realise what it's all about and will happily do when he wants.
Marley has not had a lot of experience with being groomed and brushed so he is looking for someone who will put the time into him with small brushes daily as he builds up his confidence on this. Unfortunately due to the coat he has, grooming will be a must.
Marley did come into care with a coat that was a mess so we had no option but to have him shaved and while he was learning about water and baths he took a fancy to a sponge bath!
Paw Prints Canine also did a lot of dental work for Marley and whilst he does not have that many teeth left he certainly is a enthusiastic eater.
** Please note applications will close Saturday 9th January 2021 at 5.30pm
