About Thunder ~ 4yo Ridegback X (On trial 8/2/21)
This loveable, easygoing boy is Thunder. Thunder is a 4 year old Ridgeback cross looking for his forever home.
Basically, Thunder is what we would describe as a big chunky derp! He has settled into his new foster home easily and would be a great fit in a range of different homes.
This boy is not the kind of dog to be left outside. He needs a home where he can get attention and affection, join you on the lounge and generally make himself at home. He is great with kids but at his size (around 35kg) on the occasion he does get excited and jump up, he may knock younger kids over, so teenage kids would be a better fit.
Thunder is a dog friendly boy and would be happy in a home with fur companions (previously living with 2 big breed females), or very happy to soak up all the love as an only dog. Thunder has lived with cats in the past but we haven’t been able to test him with a cat in foster care.
Thunder loves his walks and gets very excited when he sees the lead! He doesn’t pull but does weave around a bit, and he can be a little nervous- we think he just hasn’t been out a lot so with more walks he will be fine. He doesn’t need a great deal of exercise but he has also told us he plans to work on his fitness a little in the new year (like a lot of us).
Thunder’s weakness is the car. He currently doesn’t like getting in the car at all! We are confident a new owner could work on this with positive reinforcement and exposure. His entertainment might be in walking distance for a little while though.
