When Millie came into our care she was quite reserved but over the past week her personality is beginning to shine, and she is quite the happy, sassy lady! Millie really loves her walkies! She has a morning and an evening walk , 30 - 40 minutes each and she has also been to the beach! She LOVED it - went running to the sea with another larger dog and even had a paddle! Most of all, she loves exploring close to her human and waiting for treats.
Millie has spent most of her life inside and does not seek outside unless following one of her foster siblings out, or when going for a walk. She will trot along and have extensive sniffs all around the neighborhood, and want to stay close once she has bonded to her person(s).
Millie is fine with dogs, she is non-reactive. She has shown no inclination to chase the cats at her foster home - she was interested at first, more in the way of 'talking' to them with weird little squealy barks - but after a few days is totally fine.
Millie knows her name if you call her quite loudly, but she has never been taught commands - her recall is patchy, but off lead in an enclosed area and on very long lead at the beach, she will stick to her person. Millie is not house trained but we are working on that and her new family will have the kindness and patience to continue help Millie with this.
She wants to sleep close to her person once she trusts you, and will often cry in her sleep, but with reassurance, she settles, and this is improving. She spends a lot of her time on the sofa, or in her round bed during the day.
Once she has settled and trusts her person, Millie will be a devoted little companion. For the moment, she is still in transition - but she is an optimistic little soul, and takes things in her stride. We would love to see Millie head to her forever home with one or more doggie companions of similar size and age, and one or more adult humans who will give her the loving home she so desires.
Thank you to Heather of Dixon Dog Photography for the fantastic photos of Millie.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer a six-week full refund, free assistance for six weeks for any issues, and a lifetime takeback policy with a fifty percent refund of the adoption fee, and of course an invitation to our adopters’ Christmas party.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.
