About Chilla
CHILLA of the Outback Litter is a male kelpie/blue cattle dog puppy, born on 12 November 2020.
His mum is a blue cattle dog x kelpie, while his dad is kelpie through and through, so there's no surprises that this little chap is a glorious mix of black, tan, blue and white. We've included photos of mum and dad in this profile.
Kelpies and cattle dogs can make great family pets, loyal companions and excellent watchdogs. They have an exceptionally high IQ and may get into mischief if left to their own devices. They require plenty of exercise, and will become bored if stuck in a backyard for lengthy periods without stimulation or company. They are renowned for their trustworthiness and reliability. They are not barkers by nature.
The secret to bringing the best out in a working dog is to keep him occupied and well loved. His greatest joy is the love and attention of an active owner or family, while his greatest disappointment is inactivity and lack of attention.
To be happy and content, Chilla will need plenty of vigorous daily exercise and play. Secure fencing is a must.
His adoption fee is $850 and he will be desexed, vaccinated and microchipped in early February.

Preference will be given to homes where:
* someone is around most of the time and/or there is another dog for Chilla to play with; and
* Chilla is regarded as an integral part of the family and has access to the home.
Applicants must be prepared to travel to Warwick, Queensland to meet Chilla.
Medical notes
Report of Catherine Marlton, Veterinarian, Condamine Veterinary Clinic, 185 Bracker Road, Warwick dated 12 January 2021:
"Chilla was presented on 31 December 2020 with non-weight bearing lameness of the right hind leg after an incident at the foster carer's home.
There was pain on palpation of the right tibia and radiographs revealed a non-displaced mid-shaft fracture of the tibia. The fibula was intact and no sign of joint involvement or growth place damage.
This fracture should heal well and quickly with support.
Growth plates in young puppies can be damaged without showing any indication of this until they grow older.
This is highly unlikely in Chilla's case, however, cannot be entirely ruled out at this age.
Today the support on his leg has been removed and he has good range of movement and is very comfortable with a straight leg."
