About Tiger ~ 9mo Kelpie X (On Trial 20/01/21)
The gorgeous Tiger is on the prowl for his new family. His mum was a Mastiff x Wolfhound and his dad was a Kelpie, and at 9 months old he has bounced back from being the runt of the litter to being a shiny, healthy, 29kg boy.
Tiger is sweet, loving and is loyal to his family, although he is particularly bonded to his Dad and listens better to Dad than to Mum. Tiger was not expected to survive his early days, and he was rescued by his current family to save his life, but they recognise that he needs
more time than they can give him because of their current commitments.
Tiger is very active and playful. He would run and play all day if he could. He needs a family who can meet his need for exercise and stimulation. Tiger has had consistent training since he came to his current family and can sit, drop and wait for food. He has had clicker training in the past. He needs a family who is willing to continue this training. Because of his high energy, Tiger can run in to small children and knock them over without meaning to so children over 10 would be best, however he is gentle with younger children when meeting them.
Tiger is desexed and fully vaccinated. He is toilet trained and currently sleeps inside, poking gently with his paw to ask for pats before a snooze. He has not been tested with cats and pocket pets but doesn’t chase birds that land in his yard. Tiger sometimes digs if he is left alone for longer periods of time but he has never tried to escape. He loves his squeaky toys and will chase a ball but is not so good at bringing it back yet. Tiger is a little upset by the lawnmower and whipper snipper and sometimes tries to nip them because the noise is scary.
Tiger gets very excited about going out for a walk and can be a little strong. He currently has a harness that helps with that, and he responds well to a special squeaky toy when out on a walk as it gets his attention and puts him into a sit very quickly. Although he missed out on a lot of socialisation as a young boy through COVID time, he loves meeting new friends but can be a little intense in his desire to play, so any dogs in the family would need to have a similar energy level and be ready to play, or if they are older, be happy to tolerate a high energy young man.
Tiger’s ideal family would be a young person or couple who would take him out on lots of
adventures and long walks, or he would make a great tradie’s mate. He has been brought up with love and care and his family wants to find the best of homes for him.
