Hi friends!
My name is Harvey, and I am on the look out for a special loving family of my very own.
I was rescued after my owner drove me out of town and abandoned me on the side of the road. Luckily, someone saw this happen- and the council was called. It took them 2hrs to catch me as I was understandably very scared about what was going on. I have clearly been beaten before and not met many people that I could trust! But it has been amazing since coming into Off The Chain's care...everyone here gives me snuggles and treats, oh so many treats.... my tail finally began to wag after a few days and now I have discovered the glory that is 'couch naps'.
I am a gentle, loving and affectionate boy who just wants to be loved. I don't have a mean bone in my body, and even when I am most scared, eg at the vet, or if there are too many people around- I just hide my face in my carer's chest and hope we will be ok. I really love other dogs, and am good with the cat here too. Kids are also good, as they usually drop bits of food which makes my day. I have learned my basic commands and am house trained. I can be a little nervous when you approach me with eg a mop or vacuum, and will retreat as far away as I can, and stay there until it is safe again. I don't chew or bark, except for chewing my beds up- which is easily avoided, I just have a hammock bed now (like this one- https://www.kmart.com.au/product/pet-bed-elevated---large/2106824). Car rides are fun and I like to go whenever I can!
I like my walks and I even went to a big adoption day for the rescue, and as you can see, I was quite the happy chappy! Everyone I met wanted to snuggle me, and smuggle me home! I am a loving, loyal, and special boy who needs a patient owner who will teach me what real love and safety feels like, who won't take me to un-fenced off-leash parks (if I get a fright I may run), and will take me on walks so I can see the world and bond with you. I LOVE the water, so a doggy pool would be amazing, and I only need a standard 1.2m fence as I show no desire to escape. Your neighbours will love me, as I very rarely bark, and you will love me because I am snuggly, funny, and affectionate. I show no sign of being overly fearful of storms of fireworks; they're not my favourite of course, but I don't panic either.

Before applying, please consider and finalise the following:

- Other resident pets fully vaccinated and preferably desexed
- The rescue pet's dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed, age
- Enrichment, exercise and training needs of pet you are applying for
- If you have not read our adoption process below in full, please do not apply until you have.
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applicants may meet the animal. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the pet. We will not contact you if you do not complete the form in full AND provided the required photos of yard/fencing within 48hrs. If you apply to adopt but require us to hold the pet more than 3 days before meeting, we will ask you for a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the pet, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters. If you follow through with adoption after your meet, the $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the pet. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you place a $100 holding fee on the animal- the day you collect the pet you will sign an adoption contract and pay the remaining $350 fee.
All animals are adopted out with vaccinations up to date; any vaccinations due from date of adoption are the ethical and financial responsibility of the adopter. During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must notify OTC, and present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic we direct you to in your area. OTC will cover any treatment needed at our authorised clinics.
