About Akubra
If you’re looking for a loyal companion, then look no further than Akubra!
This boy is extremely friendly and loves the company of his people. Even the passers-by during his daily walk are considered his friends. His previous owners recognise that he was also good with children.
Akubra will need a great deal of exercise in his new home, preferably with some kind of job to do. He requires a long daily walk and would also make an excellent jogging companion. His absolute favourite past time is his ball and he loves to play fetch. Akubra would play fetch for hours at a time, no matter what time of the day it is! He also enjoys bush walks and running along the rocks at the river. His always got his listening ears on and has good recall being walked off lead on these hikes.
This boy is super obedient and exceptionally alert. He is eager to please and will make a devoted companion for someone. However, he has an inexhaustible amount of energy which makes him unsuitable for the average pet home. Akubra shows strong herding instinct and will bark which is why it would be best for him to go to a home in a more rural environment.
Akubra is crate trained and happy to sleep the night away quietly in his crate. He is also house/toilet trained and loves to spend the evenings on the lounge getting your affection while you watch TV. Going on car rides are lots of fun – so much so he dislikes it when you stop at a set of traffic lights!
We are looking for a home with owners experienced with working dogs who have a lifestyle that will compliment Akubra. Active people are a must and rural lifestyle is preferred. He should be allowed to spend time inside with the family. He is good with other dogs and would be fine to live with another doggy friend. He would be best suited to another working dog with similar traits and size, but he is also fine to live by himself given enough exercise.
If you think you can offer Akubra the type of home he needs, then you are welcome to apply by completing a Dog Adoption enquiry form on the Fetching Dogs website.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
