About Louise
**Before applying to adopt Louise, please remember that adopting a puppy into your home is a huge commitment, and very demanding of your time. Puppies require daily exercise, positive socialisation with other people/dogs/puppies, grooming, training and playtime. When applying, please consider the extent of your work hours, holidays, and how busy your personal life is as puppies will need someone who is home for most of the day with regular focused input, especially in those first six months after adoption **
NAME: Louise aka LouLou
BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: Owner surrender with her littermate.
ENERGY LEVEL: Typical pup at the moment, plays, eats, poops and sleeps! Louise has a medium energy level and will need daily walks to build her fitness and health..
BREED: Staffordshire Bull Terrier X Bull Mastiff
BREED TRAITS: Staffordshire Bull Terrier - though they look tough they are mostly affectionate and loving dogs with family - known as Nanny dogs they are great with children if brought up with them correctly. Love to be with their people and won't cope with being alone. They are not outside dogs. Energetic and need a really good work out every day. Early training is essential, especially consistent and positive socialisation with other dogs as they can be unfriendly towards unknown dogs if not well socialised. Bold, intelligent, reliable, and loyal, this breed is not for novice owners.
Bullmastiff - originally bred as a guard dog, this breed is affectionate with family but can be standoffish with strangers. Sensitive and loving to his clan he is a powerful and courageous guardian. Independent thinkers so training and socialisation to people, places and other dogs should start young. Best as an inside dog he needs to be protected from overheating. Low to medium energy requirements but can excel in various dog sports. Definitely not for novice owners.
ASSETS: Louise is an absolute sweetheart! She is affectionate, friendly and playful. She can be a little reserved when she meets new dogs initially, but soon warms up and plays well with them. She could live with a dog-friendly cat after gentle introduction.
FAVOURITE THINGS: She loves one on one cuddles with her human and loves to play with other dogs whenever she can. She also wants to be wherever her human is, she's very loyal and loving.
WORKING ON: Walking on the lead and commands. She has started doing lead and command training at her foster home and is going really well. She is also doing well with housetraining but has the odd accident if left alone, so her new owner will need to put some time into this. Puppy school and ongoing training are a must for her to make up for the important grounding she missed.
CUTE QUIRKS: She 'talks' back when you talk to her!
HOME ESSENTIALS:
* Stability: A dog experienced home is essential, where someone is around for most of the day on a permanent basis (not just through Covid 19) or can take her with them when they go out.
* Time: Louise needs an owner who will put in the time to expose her to new experiences and to train and socialise her with new people as well as dogs. Structured classes where she can learn, socialise and have safe exposure are a must and 2 good walks a day are essential to keep her happy. She would love another youngish dog to play with.
* Space: Louise needs a good sized, well fenced, secure yard to run around in to burn off her playful energy, with lots of grass and interesting things for her to sniff.
* Love: Louise needs to be allowed to be inside or out as she chooses, to sleep inside at night and to be included as part of the family. She would be great with gentle children (6+) who have had a good amount of exposure to dogs throughout their childhood.
If Louise sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please send in an enquiry and we will be in touch. Please only apply for Louise if you have the time and commitment for her needs.
