About Athena
My name is Athena and I am a three year old German Shepherd, and my family have made the hard decision to find me a new home.
I am a very friendly dog, and walk relatively well on the lead.
I am looking for a home who have recently had a German Shepherd and understand my breed. I haven't been tested with small dogs, cats or pocket pets.
I will need a home where I will be an integral family member and where I can continue with my lead and basic obedience training.
I do struggle with separation anxiety and when left alone I bark a lot, so prefer someone who is home all the time.
I am living with another German Shepherd and two small children. If you have small children you must have had a German Shepherd or large breed dog recently and the children used to a large dog.
I am very social and used to go to dog cafes etc.
Intelligence, loyalty, love and companionship is what I will give in abundance when I connect and build that trust with my new owner.
If you understand the nature of the German Shepherd, have recently owned a German Shepherd, and are looking for a companion dog then please consider me.

Athena is microchipped and will be desexed and vaccinated before she goes to her new home.
Adoption details
We have an Adoptions Manager who screens all prospective candidates as to their suitability to adopt a German Shepherd Dog.
We try to contact every one by phone but if that isn't successful we will email our application form to you, which needs to be completed and returned, or you can call us back and we can chat and complete for you. We will also ask you to provide photos of your yard and fencing to enable us to see where the dog will be kept and that they have areas of shade and shelter.
All our dogs are ready to go to their new home, so when you enquire about a dog you must be in a position to take them into your home. We are unable to hold a dog while you fix your fences or go on holiday, etc.
The successful candidate who adopts one of our dogs is provided with an information kit, ongoing support, training and advice on all aspects of feeding, training and general assistance to ensure both the new owner and our rescued dog settle into their home.
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
The rescue group has removed this pet and it is no longer available for adoption.
