Requirements:
* A patent and loving environment committed to ongoing training
* A calm resident dog play mate
* A large yard with plenty of space to stretch his legs
Flaherty is the most sweetest young boy, with a calm and gentle nature. He is looking for a home that will be committed to his continued training and with the patience to train a young dog.
Flaherty would be best suited to a home with a playmate that can match his energy level. He loves to play, so a playmate that is calm and doesn't get annoyed by his attempts to play would be best. He can be very vocal in play. HE loves is foster sister.
Or a home where he has room to roam and company most of the time.
He his still classed as a puppy and being left outside on his own all day at this stage will lead to destructive behaviour. With time and proper training he will grow out of this.
He is happy to be inside when you are inside and just laze around. He is happy to sleep on his bed, or the floor as he feels the heat, but is also not against sitting on the couch or bed if allowed.
As mentioned he does feel the heat, even in low 20c days, and absolutely loves his current pool (an old bathtub), so that would be great if he had a pool.
Due to his size and strength he is best walked on a Halti, which he is getting used to. He is happy to just stroll along and has the best swagger. Reminds m of a lion walking.
We are working on his excitement when put and meeting other dogs, or dogs barking from behind gates. He is very food motivated, so best to walk with some treats, as he responds well to that.
He has learnt to sit at curbs and waiting with patience if you stop.
He has learnt to sit and wait for his dinner. Treats are only given on his bed, which he has picked up quick. He is currently feed outside (while other dog is feed inside) and happily waits at the door until he can come back in.
He is quite a chilled young boy, but still a puppy in a lot of ways. He is still learning his way in the world and what is acceptable. With the right home and owners that are committed to training and have the patience, he will make a perfect addition to your home.
