About Boof
💥To apply for Boof, please scroll down & complete the adoption questionnaire in
full. Please note, incomplete applications will not be considered. 💥
Boof is your typical cattle dog and is searching for a breed experienced home only.
Any children must be over 15 years of age.
So, what does Boof need?..............................................
Boof needs a home with a confident owner. Someone who understands the meaning of firm, but fair as Boof does best when he has clear rules and boundaries. Once he knows what's expected of him, he will be your loyal best friend. Boof is very smart and responds to training & verbal corrections well. He lives to please his boss. He loves going on bush walks in the state forests and enjoys a swim in the local lakes.
Boof gets on well with non-dominant dogs. He does best with female dogs and calm older males. Boof is unsure of some dogs and will seek shelter behind his chosen human. As such, he needs a proper introduction. Boof has met the resident cats and gives them a wide berth.
Boof loves to chase anything that can be thrown...sticks, toys, balls...whatever! He will try to snatch items from your hand, but is getting better with understanding the rules of play.
He has what would be described in human terms, as an addictive personality. He can become obsessed with toys, balls etc. For this reason playtime with these are restricted to a few short periods each day with no other dogs. Boof is learning "Nothing in life is free" and must earn every throw of the ball by following a command such as 'sit.' Boof can sit and wait patiently for his food, drop, shake and touch. He walks to heel off lead.
Boof is not house trained & currently sleeps outside in his kennel.
Boof needs someone who understands the needs of his breed and is prepared to provide ongoing mental & physical training. If you think you can provide Boof with his perfect forever home, we would love to hear from you. ❤🐾
