About Zika
Zika is a fun-loving, active and playful boy looking for a new home where he can adventure and play to his hearts content. He enjoys playtime with his people and toys but nothing beats chasing the hose or sprinkler which he will do for as long as you let him. Once all the play time is over, Zika loves to snuggle up with his people on the lounge for a tv session in the evenings. He is a great size at roughly 15kg and not expected to get much bigger.
Zika loves to play with other dogs. His favourite games are wrestling and tug of war, and he enjoys trips to the dog park and beach. Large active dogs are the best play mates for Zika as he gets right into the games which can be a little too much for smaller dogs or puppies and his new owners should be conscious to interrupt play if it becomes too boisterous to help him learn when to stop or back off. Zika is an active dog who will require at least one significant walk a day and he will need a home with another medium to large sized dog who can keep up with him.
This boy has the smarts. He has been attending general obedience classes where he has learnt how to sit, drop, stand and is continuing to build up his stays. Zika is a quick learner and is food motivated in his training – he will do almost anything for a treat. Walking well on the lead is continuing to improve but when he is first excited, he does pull a bit. Despite his great start to training, Zika needs a family who is experienced and committed to continuing this training so he can keep on track and continue to improve his lead manners. He also benefits greatly from the mental stimulation that training provides and would greatly enjoy further dog activities like beginner’s agility or trick training. If Zika is allowed to get bored, he will try to find his own outlets such as digging or chewing so it is important that he is well exercised and has regular consistent mental stimulation.
We are looking for an experienced home where Zika will be a part of the family and provided with the physical and mental stimulation he requires. He needs a home with a medium to large, active dog who can play with him. Currently, he lives with a cat who he likes but he does try to play with him so only robust and tolerant cats would be suitable. Zika is inclined to test the boundaries so is better suited to an adult household or older, dog savvy children. Full time workers will be considered only if you can demonstrate that you have the time to meet Zika’s needs. If you are looking for an active, playful dog who can go on adventures with you and your current dog then Zika could be the one for you.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
