About Mack ~ 1.5yr Old Mix Breed (On Trial 25/12/20)
Introducing Mack!
Mack is a mix breed with all the desirable qualities you’d want from a shepherd, kelpie, mastiff, dane cross! Mack is lovable, goofy, submissive and loyal with just a little bit of sass thrown in – but we’ll get to that later!
At 1 and a half years old and weighing in at 30kg he’s not for the faint hearted, you’ll need to be familiar with the derpy-ness of a larger dog and their need to wiggle their butt and smack their tail around in pure joy of your every word.
Bonus for you cat owners out there – Mack was immediately cat friendly despite never having met a cat before and extra bonus for those of you hoping to get a young dog who is already housetrained…ding ding ding…we have a winner, Mack is living the free roam lifestyle and while I’m at work goes in and out as he pleases with no potty accidents and no destruction to the home – caveat: dog toys, cardboard, palm leaves and thongs not included
Mack has been in foster care for 4 weeks, a necessary amount of time to decompress from his rather stressful previous life and adjust to the stability of a routine where he is left in the care of his foster dog brothers while foster mum goes off to work everyday. And guess what! All the hard work is now done for you, potential adopter, because he is now able to separate without anxiety and LOVES routine! Which brings me back to Mack’s sassy behaviour – purely driven by his familiar routine – he will have a stern woof to you at two times of the day – 1.
Walkies time and 2. Dinner time – so if you think you’re getting away without feeding him or taking a walk every day, think again!
But seriously this guy has just slotted right in here so his perfect home will replicate or better the following non- negotiables:
- Mack MUST sleep inside at night – he’d love to sleep at the bottom of your bed with the option of your foot as an occasional head rest but you can probably talk him into sleeping in his own bed somewhere near you on the floor as well.
- He MUST go to a home with another dog – he can fit in with a confident dog or a submissive dog, a male dog or a female dog but he would really not be suited to being an only dog particularly if you are a full time worker. #sorrynotsorry
- He needs a good quality diet – this guy does not do well at all on supermarket quality food or kibble with grains. #lovesrawfed
- Finally, he must have an owner who is sensitive to his past and not discipline him with objects, hands or by yelling – he responds really well to distraction and positive reinforcement.
Fulltime workers may apply granted you have another friendly dog for Mack to hang with during the day.
Now you’ve got all the info get onto it guys, Mack would love to be in his forever home for Christmas 2020! He’s a handsome, desirable guy so he won’t be hanging around for long!
