You don't need to leave your home to adopt from us, we do our meet & greets online and bring the cat/kitten to you! How good is that?

Luna Silver had a rough start to live, she was a very sick kitten saved by a loving human whom she bonded with. She was always highly strung and after a very traumatic visit to an emergency vet christmas 2019, she became very fearful and at times aggressive. Luna Silver was surrendered to Cat People of Melbourne as the owner could not cope with Luna's fear of anyone who wasn't her. We didn't know what we could do for Luna other than give her a chance, and that's exactly what we did.
Very slowly, over time, the combination of medication & behavioural techniques worked for Luna. She started rolling over in her bed and chirping, showing her belly. She started coming out of her crate, and then her room, and exploring the house. You could always tell where Luna was from the hisses! But even that died down. Then there was the day that a family walked in to adopt another cat, and Luna walked straight up to the mum and demanded attention... then head booped the hand that came to pat her. We were floored, never did we think this would happen! The family offered to foster Luna and she's blossomed in their care and is now ready for her second and hopefully last forever home.
So here's what Luna is looking for:
A quiet home with a human of her own to spend time with, regular meals, brushing (her coat is extremely plush), a window to look out of (but no outside, too scary), a bed to sleep on with her human, a chair to sit in (with a lap) with her human, and lots of loving gentle interaction. If you are someone who loves the quiet life and enjoys spending time at home in your own company, Luna would be the ideal companion for you.
She brings to you a world of love and affection, she is gently playful and stunningly attractive. We think she may have some Bengal in her, her silver tabby markings are spectacular and she loves to chat sometimes. Luna would be an ideal therapy cat for someone who's gone through their own trauma and understands that some days are better than others, some are just to be survived and who better to do it with than your own therapy cat? To adopt a cat from Cat People you'll be required to have a remote or in-person house check done, show photo ID & proof of address, and fill out & sign an adoption contract.
Cats from our group are all are vet checked, flea treated, wormed, vaccinated and desexed before being taken home by their adopters. Additionally, all of our cats have been evaluated for behavioural traits, fed a high-quality diet, and well socialised. Please note: all Cat People cats and kittens are indoor only, this is not negotiable.
We will communicate with you through every step of the adoption process to ensure that your experience (and the cat's) is excellent and that you are confident in your decision to adopt a feline companion. Returns are only accepted due to health issues confirmed by a veterinarian.
We only accept adoptions from people with residency in Australia. If you are on a work or student visa, talk to us about fostering with the group instead!
