About Zayne
Zayne has energy in spades and his enthusiasm for life knows no bounds. Zayne would like to live an active, busy life with his new owner, where he gets to go on adventures and explore the world to his hearts content.
Zayne needs at least two decent walks a day, plus a backyard so he can show off his excellent ‘zoomie’ skills. He will race around the backyard at a 100km/h, looking like a black blur. It’s hard not to feel exceptionally happy when seeing Zayne do his zoomies as he is so full of joy and exctiment. With a backyard, Zayne would be okay as an only dog, however he would benefit from another large dog companion to show him the ways of the world.
He’s still gaining some confidence outdoors, but we have no doubt that with a bit more time he will be a true explorer. In a new environment he may freeze or pull on the lead, but is slowly learning that the world is much more interesting than it is scary. This affectionate boy is happiest when he is around people. He’s super friendly to everyone he meets and is extremely well socialised. He loves being the centre of attention.
All in all, Zayne is pretty much the perfect pup. However he does have one fault – he is yet to master the stairs!

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
