About Lilly ~ 6mo Mini Foxie (Trial 17/12/20)
There's a reason animated cartoon animals always have oversized ears, they convey so much emotion, excitement and intention. Little Lilly our 6 month old mini Foxie has ears for days and boy are they expressive. At just 2kg's, she is the epitome of a pocket rocket and has a big personality.
We need to make it clear from the beginning, Lilly is not going to be suitable as a first time dog for new owners or as a companion for someone elderly. She is a little behind in her training, but is improving rapidly in care. Lilly can be a bit demanding when she wants attention, which manifests in excited barking and jumping. If you are carrying a basket of washing, she will bounce off your legs all the way to the line and for that reason, would pose a trip hazard for small children and older people. That being said, we are working on being calm for pats and not acknowledging the barking, which is seeing improvement.
Lilly just wants to be near her people when they are home, so must be allowed inside the house. Her favourite activity is stealing people things and creating a treasure pile on her bed. She loves to steal thongs, clothes, food and toys but has also taken the tv remote, bras and basically anything she can carry. Funny to watch, but needs supervision! She hasn't progressed to chewing these things up, but might if not actively watched. She is learning to spend lots of time outdoors with her big foster brother and sister during the day and of a night time will take herself to bed in her comfy crate. The crate doesn't have to be forever, but it is helping with her toilet training. Lilly does actively seek out a pee pad if caught inside.
We think the ideal home for Lilly will be with an active family who will play with her, but with kids old enough to invest and be consistent with her training. If small children were to drop her or tread on her, she could get hurt very easily. Obviously secure fencing is a must, she would love another dog for company if her family are all out during the day. We will give preference to owners who are familiar with the breed and who are also committed to training. Younger active retirees could also suit.
Lilly makes us laugh every day, she really has a great little personality. She will need to be desexed after Christmas, so needs to stay in the Hunter region for that reason. She has had all her vaccinations on time and did not come from a traumatic background. She was just too much for her older owner.
