About Andy
Andy is a social butterfly waiting to come out of his shell. He’s still finding his feet in this strange new world as a ‘pet’, but hidden beneath moments of trepidation is an adventurous and exuberant boy who will make a wonderful addition to his future family.
He’s very keen to make friends with both dogs and people, but needs a little time to feel comfortable before fully opening up. One of the ways he does this is by sniffing, sniffing and more sniffing! Particularly when he is outside as this is the strangest place for Andy. He will stand as stoic as a statue while the wind blows around him, with his nose pointed in the air twitching to learn about his surroundings.
Andy has a particular penchant for plants, and considers himself a bit of horticulturalist – they are his favourite things to sniff and rub on his fur! He’s got some hoarding tendancies, collecting items from around the house and storing them on his bed. He’s extremely gentle though and will rarely cause damage to the precious items he collects.
Andy has a truck load of quirks; from sticking his head into a washing basket full of clothes, sleeping with a big toothy grin on his face, and playing with his favourite toys – a cardboard box and pair of socks – Andy will never fail to make you laugh. He’s super smoochy and affectionate as well.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
