About Makana

💗 Makana 💗
Makana is finally ready to start looking for her forever family, and boy is she excited!
Makana is a 7month old Southern Cross Bulldog. (we couldn't list this in the breeds given by pet rescue, please note she is NOT an aussie bulldog but a Southern Cross Bulldog.) A few details about the southern cross bulldog breed, so you can make an informed decision if this breed is for you. Please note Nana is not a British/Aussie or French Bulldog. The Southern Cross Bulldog is a well boned, muscular, large sized dog with a powerful build. This breed are Great family companions, seeking love and affection from owners, not at all suited to being a backyard only dog and Enjoys activity, however a lot of exercise is not required. Laid back, easy going nature, while having good watch dog abilities but is not known to be a barker unless provoked. Very stable in nature with a predictable character. Enjoys water yet is not always an adept swimmer due to physical build. The Southern Cross Bulldog lifespan should live to 10 or more years.
Makana has been working hard to make sure she has all the basics down pat. She sleeps perfectly in a crate at night, walks beautifully on a leash (she will ignore ANY distraction for a treat!) and is smashing through basic commands faster than her foster ma can throw them at her (again... probably for the food 😂).
Makana loves her people, especially the smaller human variety who seem to love playing and cuddling all the time! She also loves her doggy companions, though she can be a bit of a bulldozer when excited so any other dogs should be as robust and playful as she is!
Makana will let off a bark to let you know something is there (wandering cat, possum, someone at the door) but once she knows you’re aware, she is quick to quiet.
Makana is a goofy, sweet natured girl who is ready to entertain her own forever family.
Medical Notes -
Makana was born with two heart defects.
PDA (patent ductus arterios). This has been surgically repaired and will never cause makana an issue.
Moderate tricuspid valve dysplasia (TVD). This may need medical intervention at a later date. Dogs with mild/moderate TVD live normal lives, often without medical intervention.
Makana’s Recommendations:
- A repeat echo is advised every 1-2 years to monitor TVD. This would mean any issues that arise will be picked up and treated early.
- Makana’s Lifespan is expected to be normal provided TVD does not progress.
If you have any questions relating to Makana or adding her to your family please head to www.abcrescue.com.au and complete an application form or a contact is form.
