Name: Holmi
Gender: Female
Breed: Terrier Mix
Size: Medium
Age: 5 Years 3 Month
DOB: 08/10/2015
Requirements:
• Someone at home most of the time
• A patient home, experienced with anxious dogs
• No dogs, cats or other small pets
• Teen aged children and older
Holmi is a sweet, gentle girl who needs a loyal pack of humans to devote herself to. She needs a family with a yard, no other pets, and with someone home a lot post-COVID.
This sweetheart has had a big life already, coming from China as a pup and living with a family since then. She's now been surrendered through no fault of her own but does come with a few issues that her furever home will need to be aware of.
She loves:
• Her people
• BELLY RUBS
• Head and face massages
• Being brushed
• Sniffing all the smells
• Chimken
• Lying in the grass, alternating between sun and shade
• Finding sticks
• Tug-of-war
• Sporadic zoomies
Holmi is gentle, well-mannered, patient with her food and doesn't beg for yours. She doesn't damage things (though she may try to nibble on mint and parsley if you have them in the yard) and sits patiently when you put her leash on or take it off. She doesn't go on the couch and won't enter her foster family's bedrooms unless invited. She would love to sleep near you if you'll let her but after a settling period is fine in another room.
Ideally she'd live somewhere she can let herself in and out of the house as she pleases, as she LOVES lounging and sniffing around the yard – but wants to be with you too. Her favourite game is when you play a bit of tug-of-war with her toys then throw it for her to chase. She doesn't need huge amounts of exercise but a good-sized yard would be ideal so she can get her occasional zoomies out in the comfort of her home. She's a little more on edge out on walks.
She's so far been left alone for a couple of hours at a time without issue, and gets VERY excited when her people come home – she'll squeak and do cute little spins in circles then want to play for a bit. When she's relaxed she'll look you dead in the eye and slowly roll onto her back to ask for belly rubs.
She's generally good on walks, though she loves to stop and sniff everything so expect to stop regularly. And when she's unsure of a new area she'll tend to walk behind you. She settles as she builds trust and confidence with you and her neighbourhood.
Holmi tends to stay away from dogs out on walks (she gets a bit overwhelmed and scared by their excitement) but she doesn't like sharing her home or people so must go somewhere with no other pets. She is territorial even with visitors so her new family will need to work with her on that and know that it'll take time.
Holmi was originally saved from the dog meat trade in China as a 6 month

Medical notes
Holmi is on daily medication for anxiety. Vets have said she also has a pinched nerve in her spine that she was likely born with that could be causing a bit of pain.
Please contact her foster family for more information about her needs.
